Immigration New Zealand has announced major changes to post-study work pathways, including a new Short-term Graduate Work Visa and expanded Post Study Work Visa eligibility for certain graduate diploma holders from 16 November 2026.

From 1 June 2026, New Zealand will extend minimum English language requirements to Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) Skill Level 3 roles. The change aims to support better migrant integration, workplace communication, and awareness of employment rights. Transitional arrangements will apply for certain current AEWV holders, while employers and future applicants are encouraged to prepare for the updated requirements.
